It's a sad, sad, sad day when you realize something negative about yourself. Maybe one day you wake up on the wrong side of the wrong bed and come to the realization that you are completely and utterly flawed. You realized your human side...YOU ARE A VICTIM. The epiphany of error happens to us all, and when it does, it's nobody's fault but yours. Are you a victim of your own creation or fate? These existential thoughts have plagued many of us at some point in our mortal lives. But the secret in succeeding is ~~a really good P.R. team~~ the will and power to continue and fight back to not become just another victim.

Take Zahia Dehar for example. France's gossip mademoiselle du jour. She was involved in a scandal at the "age 17, she was reportedly bought for a night by a team member to be Franck Ribéry’s birthday present." Fast forward two-years later and the infamous "call girl" is debuting as a designer of (you guessed it) Haute Couture Lingerie-and as if that wasn't the cat's meow, it made it's debut at the end of this year's Paris Fashion Week!
The line involves provocateur outfits that would make any ho scream in happiness. Big Pink bows, frilly almost not-there tops, and even a nod to mother nature herself, with garden flower panties. Did I mention her debut look book was taken by no other than the Kaiser of Fashion himself, Karl Lagerfeld! Check the video out for her latest collection and decide whether or not she's still a victim.

Maybe it's ~~because i'm Colombian~~ selective vision/hearing but it seems that this week, here in Los Angeles, i've noticed that there has been a plethora of Colombian pride festivals. The Pico Rivera Colombian Festival, Down Town Art Walk: Colombian Exhibits and not to mention a couple of Colombian artists that are set to play in L.A...And while i'm still debating about actually attending these events, there is one thing all these events have in common: Pride.
Pride can motivate you. Pride can initiate change, but at the same time pride can inhibit you...just ask the proud boys that wear Mexican Pointy boots in the pseudo-documentary above. These young men inspired by the tribal music have created a sub-culture that motivates members to create the most pointy boots to dance in. Sounds ~~painful, tacky, horrible~~ fun! Watch with an open mind guys and enjoy!!!

Carnival folk have really never gotten a good rep. Maybe they just can't afford any ~~GOOD~~ press or maybe its because of all those weird side-show acts with freaks, that one often associates carnivals, with well...freaks. I mean there's:

Cirque du Soleil
Dark Carnival of Souls
Carnival Cruise lines

But one carnival that has been getting a LOT of press (and good one too) is the Electric Daisy Carnival. A music festival (Read:Electronica Coachella), that for the past 13 years had been calling Los Angeles home, but after last year's drama of a 14 year old partying to death, the event has been moved to Las Vegas (mecca of debauchery).
Even though EDC is known for debauchery, mayhem and the most intense ravers you will ever meet, here @ROSEBOW we like to help you with some outfit inspirations for this weekend's Electric Daisy festival. Take cues from Models:

Shannon:

Cut off shorts are a must in the heat of the desert. Instead of bikini top try a bandeau or color crop top to add some color, while trying to get your tan on. A long-light flowly sweater might seem like a hassle to wear @ a festival but knowing you-~~you'll be so drugged up and~~ will forget the SPF 50 both your mother and I told you to take. The sweater will @ least keep your shoulders from melting off as well as not letting you look like a complete rave slut. :)

A long flowy dress is perfect to dance and prance around EDC. Not only is it easy to wear but you can easily sneak in your ~~E-pill you will later be selling~~ another outfit underneath. Like denim shorts and a bikini top. Bring it all together with a belt, some Raybans (unless you rock the bloodshot) and you are ready to be the belle of EDC!

I'm always on the look out for aesthetic stimulation. Whether it's a dress, a new art exhibit or even just a moment in time. Recently I've been going back to my roots and looking towards nature for inspiration. Going to the forest or any green environment let's me recharge my batteries that the city has drained.

Another way the forest can inspire you is by watching Colombian-based duo THE FOREST and their live performance art. The visual candy that is this art-band incorporates their love for art and the surreal. "They wrapped their audience in a visual act that bathes them in lights, color and experimental music". So next time the 405 has you on the verge of going postal-CHILL-take a break, and leave towards nature.

Everyone has a dark side-It might not come up as often as some, but deep down, all of us are dark creatures who embrace evil from time to time. And maybe this sudden wind of dark inspiration has come from ~~stress, rejection, my new voodoo shaman friend~~ my occasional side job, catering at the historical L.A. land mark, the Edison. The interior of the Edison is dark, mysterious and enchanting-sort of like that guy you met last month at the M Bar. (R.I.P. M BAR!)

Wearing an all black outfit might seem like a flattering choice, but you really don't want to look like Steven Seagal or have people confuse you for being part of the Edison catering service. Its always good to add a touch of color to your dark outfits. Subtle and dainty, like a delicate lingerie bralette that peeps through a crop top or even a sweater that has subtle color in it. About a week ago, my dear friend decided she was going to celebrate her birthday at Cowboy Country. Against my will I went and what I witness was beyond my wild ~~horses~~ dreams. As I entered the barn (YES A BARN!) I saw huge ballroom dance floor in which, ~~I shit you not~~ about 80 Cowboy & Cowgirls uniformly danced, like a Disney Musical, to a weird tune they called "Country music".

Through out the whole night I miserably attempted to dance this music, but could not find the rhythm. I later found out, the hard way, my 2-step dance didn't appropriately match the rhythm to Country music.

Luckily this place had a lot of places to hide. Once seated, I was able to put my shame on the side and just admire the scenery. While watching these people do their routine, I was inspired by the Cowgirls and their funky style for the upcoming Summer months. Their style looks great on the dance floor, but could easily be used in everyday life here in L.A. Some inspirational cues include, denim ~~diapers~~ shorts, Cowboy boots, flower printed dress and of course an attitude!

Paz de la Huerta is an unconventional beauty with a touch of goth circa 1991. I absolutely love the fact that she dons her natural beauty with dark Gothic lips that even Mr. Marilyn Manson himself would envy. Paz's style is just like her persona on-screen: bold, simple and loud, and for that she is my style icon for the month of May.

Today YOU can go into the streets of Los Angeles (or wherever you live) and march peacefully to voice your current frustrations not only towards change in labor unions but rights for migrant workers.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas? Or at least you ~~better fucking pray~~ like to hope so-(I mean, who really wants to see you Karaoke to Gloria Estefan's song on the bar, pretending to be sexy, all while spectators view your drunken glory-as you notice that what's really hanging out of your skirt, is your tampon). But of course, there is so much more to the cheapness, and taste-less one expects from Las Vegas. There is dancing fountains, monuments to the gaudi and my favorite, outlets.

And yet amidst the sea of tight cargo pants, Ed Hardy shirts and all the glitter, I found Mai. Mai is a student from Japan who was shopping the infamous Las Vegas outlets. What struck me about her outfit was that it was so appropriate for the weather in Vegas. Her brown silk jumpsuit played perfectly with the dry breezy winds of the desert, while her choice in color palate was a perfect contrast to all the colors everyone in Las Vegas O.D.'s on.

When asked what her inspiration was, Mai responded to a simple "Nothing". Although I will admit I did not like that response at first, it later made sense to me. Her DADA approach in fashion can be seen as her outfit itself is anti-fashion/anti-ordinary, not only to Las Vegas fashion but to life in general, and for that I salute you Mai. Thanks for being my Las Vegas fashion muse.

Over the weekend I went on a date, and on a "normal" day I would make fun of everything that went wrong...but ever since the rumored apocalypse is approaching I'm forced into being optimistic and passionately enjoy every. single. moment. of my life. This time I was genuinely happy to go the theatre and watch a film. It wasn't an art house film or a thought provoking documentary, instead I decided to join the masses and watch Suckerpunch. And while my guy enjoyed the ~~crotch shots,~~ short skirts, and visual effects, I was mesmerize with the make-up action that was on film. Most noticeably their gorgeous long eye-lashes.

Fake eye-lashes aren't just for movie/porn stars anymore. Adding a pair of falsies can help you feel fabulous on days that you don't necessary have much time. Though they look great with heavy eye-makeup, pairing up the falsies with a fresh faced look can help you achieve an enhanced "natural" beauty look. Take cue from models, Cindy and Shannon.

Cindy looks Mad Men-esque with a fresh faced look, light lip gloss and a set of heavy and big falsies. Perfect for day and night!

Shannon

Even hippies can enjoy falsies. A truly natural look can be slightly enhanced with a set of medium size lashes. The benefit of a simple make-up look, is it allows you to play up your accessories. Like a nose ring or putting a feather in your hair.

Tip: Since your first experiences on eyelashes won't be easy, practice on cheap eye-lashes. (Usually sold for $2 at "Fashion Island" or "Fashion 24" stores. (YOU KNOW WHAT STORES I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!)

After a long week of working hard and putting up with the daily nausea of life, who doesn't like to indulge a little? Indulging for some might be found in the dark corner of a local bar (here's looking at you Charlie Sheen!) but here at Rose Bow, we like to indulge in ourselves by going to the mall. I admit-i'm a mall rat. Going to the mall for a little retail-therapy is an awesome healthy way to de-stress yourself. The only thing, that sucks about the mall...the ~~ugly~~ people. Which is why I was so content when I saw Thalia form Temucula!

Thalia styled an outfit that was both stylish and comfortable enough for her to shop around in. I love wearing black/white stripes and would have never thought it would look so great with military green pants and black platforms. Here's my ode to you Thalia and all the fashionable mall rats across the globe.

For the past week I’ve been daydreaming of the most random things like pastries, nature, Dior-not to mention I have also been secretly wishing I would bump into Samantha Brown at a Target store. There she would offer me a job as her co-host/wingwoman.

But the reality is...dreams don't come true, the only thing that is left from them are un-tangible memories. And while most discard those memories, i have used them for inspiration for a photoshoot.

Model Cindy: An oversized sheer sweater looks great against the sunshine rays of the Cali skies. One can balance the the huge sweater with small denim shorts. And to create non-stop legs add some chunky wooden heels.

Model Shannon: A flowing white tunic tied down with a brown belt, creates a hippie meets J.Lo mash-up. And to finish it off some chunky-wooden clogs to stay true to the hippie 60's clog.

Both these outfits can be used in several different occasions. A movie date ~~with that one guy that said he would call but never did~~, girl's night out, and even in dreams.

It's MONDAY, and you are ready to dominate the work week. Nothing says elegance and business like a ~~gold tooth~~ neck tie. Add a tie to your outfit and you instantly have an article of clothing that works as an accessory but also a statement piece. Ties instantly add a business demeanor to your outer self (for both women and men). The only problem I have with ties...I can't tie one.

It's so *good* to have good friends...but it's even better to have good friends with a camera and a passion for the aesthetically pleasing. Meet my friend Rafa-the mastermind behind the EastsiderWriter.com. A daily photo blog that captures life in Los Angeles through the eyes of a bohemian soul.

I always wanted to style a fashion shoot, and commented this to Rafa a while back. So we finally decided to get together and work on our very own first fashion photo shoot. Company Holiday parties are fast approaching, and obviously you want to show-off to your co-workers that you ~~look like a decent human female when you actually put effort~~ clean up pretty nice. Well, one way to make sure that you'll be a show stopper is to add some sparkle to your outfit. Take cues from Régine Chassagne (The Arcade Fires lead singer) on last weeks SNL performance. Even though the sun is beating us to the ground here in Southern Califas.(and no, I'm not complaining!) that doesn't mean one can't dress up with all the fun fashion has to offer in the Fall. Fall has always been my closet's favorite time of the year. It means dressing up with more layers of clothing and putting on all my favorite winter coats and boots...and even though in the past years I've shied away from tall heel boots this year I'm embracing the "inner Amazon woman" and rocking high heels like the baddest bitch on the block.

My favorite accessory this fall is the bold statement necklace, particularly this statement necklace by Tranquiltelas. This particular color really compliments well with the color palette Fall is known for: Khakis, Browns, Military green.

On a last note, if you're like me, you probably would like to run over the holiday music like that reindeer did to Grandma. This has to be at least once on your Fall/Holiday playlist. "Night by Night" by Chromeo.

Living in So. Califas, one has the advantage of having the fashion, sun and fun. But the best part of living in So Cal. THE MUSIC! The plethora of musicians that emerge from Southern California culture is amazing! The Doors, Cold War Kids, Sublime, Snoop, etc... Which is why my heart danced the one-two-step when I found out that one of my favorite local bands "Love Grenades" is part of "The Collaboration Series" by PAC SUN. The series allows upcoming photographers design custom shirts.

So the world cup didn't turn out quite the way U.S.A. wanted it to be... But hey! We're the United States of America, and tomorrow we celebrate the birth of our nation! Woot-Woot! Which means, bbq parties, friends/family, and fireworks to celebrate the fact that we are that powerful to not care about the world cup.

Summer is here and I'm so excited. Finally I can let the sun kiss my skin and enjoy all the fashion summer has to offer. This is a quick little photo essay of things that I want this summer. Which include bikes, skull rings, Indian headbands, and a call for people to use more public transportation! I feel like bright colors are so passe this summer. Instead i'm trying to opt out for a more classic approach with color schemes. Putting color in small details of your outfit (like floral print docs or a glitter eye-liner) are some ideas to add some Summer flair to your outfit with out looking like a Pollock!

The song I decided to put up is a cover of "Pump the Jam" by the always body groovin' Colombian band "Bomba Estereo". I still haven't decided what this summer 's anthem is going to be but this is most deffo on this summer's playlist. Whether they would like to admit or not, men think about fashion just as much as women. And why shouldn’t they? Fashion does not have a preference for a specific gender. Fashion is UNISEX. Hell, I’ve even seen animals rock fashion better than humans!

Wayne Gross styled an incredible editorial for GQ Australia, to visually entertain us with outfits for each part of the fashionable man's quotidian routine. Whether it's taking his morning coffee, impressing clients, or attending a black tie-affair, these outfits are made up of key wardrobe pieces that most men might have in their closet-Making the outfits that much more easier to mimic and easier to be a fashion success.

Ode to le Faux Pas

The weekend was super exciting for me! I got to volunteer at the 2nd annual Green Long Beach Festival, and while the the whole festival was informative, interesting and totally fun-their volunteer shirts were...well-interesting to say the least. The shirts were Rasta/Cheetah print/deep V-neck shirts. Mind you, those three adjectives should NEVER be in the same sentence, let alone on any article of clothing. Regardless of the lack of taste, the shirts did bring humor to my day and was the perfect example of what fashion faux pas' look like. Here is a mini-ode to fashion faux pas:

Remember the days when MTV and VH1 would actually play music videos? Yeah me neither-luckily for us we have outlets like Vimeo and Youtube to bring those glory days back. Case and point, all the Lady Gaga's music videos. Beyonce's new video for her latest single, "Why don't you love me?", is a great music video, even cooler song, but her wardrobe in the video is KILLING IT SON!

She channels a 60's desperate house wife, with outfits inspired by the biggest icons of the decade including Betty Page, Marilyn and Jackie O. Now why can't more pop stars would be more fashion savvy like Queen B?!

As summer is approaching i've been feeling like my corazón is radiating happiness! Maybe it's because the simplest things make me smile, like a song, ice cream, and people who dress up as if they belong in fashion magazines.

The problem with summer fashion is that when the sun and heat goes up, I find that most women go for floral or bright prints to demonstrate that SUMMER IS HERE. Which is typical and expected but after a while the bright colors and floral prints becomes a bit childish and redundant. My voyeur this episode, Laurie, shows us how to have a great summer outfit avoiding such summer cliches.

I met Laurie at the HUB grand opening, a biking event, and immediately fell in love with her outfit. It looked effortlessly chic, cool and comfortable enough to ride a bike on a sunny day. Laurie defies the common thought that summer means bright colors and wore a vintage inspired look that looks as she just walk out of a fashion shoot.

Usually when people work @ a specialized clothing store they often THINK, that they look good. Workers at these shops eventually get lazy and just wear the name brand of the store, (here's looking @ you MetroPark employees!)
That was not the case when I walked into the Betsey Johnson boutique, located at the Miracle Mile mall in Las Vegas. Employees, Mindy Rim (Left) and Nina Ong looked beyond adorable and fashionable and both nenas were super nice!
Miss Ong went for a more classic look in all black, while keeping the outfit youthful with the black knee high socks. Miss Rim is donning a Betsey Johnson shirt she turned into a dress by emphasizing her small waist with a nice black belt. Mindy said in regards to Betsey Johnson clothes "Betsey Johnson really knows women. She's amazing!"
Well I think both their outfits are amazing and kudos on being my fashion voyeur for Vegas!

Voyeur: My Hair routine...

On a recent facebook update status, I read a friend raving about how the Brazilian Blow Out treatment left her hair "silky smooth and straight".
Sounds great! But what about a new product for us girls that already have flat, straight hair, like me?
My hair is flat, fine and super straight, and although my curly hair girls envy it, I feel like having that hair style is soooo boring.

I've tried hair volume products, curlers, irons and even not brushing my hair for days, so the tangles could appear like more volume. Everything has failed epically.
So I decided to try something radical. I started skipping on the conditioner portion of my hair washing routine. I only conditioned once a week with a hair masque.
The conditioner weighs my already fine hair down and makes it feel heavier and greasier. I just shampoo my hair, and opt out on the conditioner. After, I run my hair through ice cold water for a minute or two. My hair usually ends up drying straight, as usual, but with an incredible shine and bounce.
Do you guys have any "hair" tips?

Feeling a bit overwhelmed and confused with the new health care bill being passed, I decided to leave the house and watch the homie Philly Johnson perform. Philly was participating in a once-a-month music showcase @ The Rhythm Lounge in Long Beach (I gotta support the community!)

Seeing him perform, brought up so many questions in relationship to how a how a musicians' fashion choice affects their future fans-Being at hip-hop event, I had some what of an idea of the level of flash and bling the performers were going to have, but even then I was not ready for the amount of blingitude, I encountered last night.
For the most part all the performers were male, thus I assumed the smooth swagger to come out and impress me. Instead what I witness was fashion catastrophe of swarovski's crystal shirts, the Usher look circa 1995 and at some point in the evening I even saw a small t.v. screen encrusted in some guys jacket. This experience was extremely informative in modern male fashion trends. The Hip-hop culture in general has so many wonderful fashion outlets, so last night was a bit of a bummer in the male department.
There were some men last night that did really put in effort, I just wish most of the performers could have done the same...
What do you guys think about dressing up the bling cliche @ a musical showcase?

Call me a sappy dork if you want but I still won't deny my love for weddings: The thought of two lives uniting forever in happiness, the wedding champagne and, of course, another perfect ~~excuse~~ opportunity to dress up. What is there not to love?
Apparently boys really don't share the same excitement us girls do when it comes to dressing up for a wedding. For most straight men, it's a drag to dress up for any event. This is why you always find yourself in the middle of a sea of men's black suits.

Geoff Tock's outfit for a recent wedding avoided the cliche of the traditional black suit and was the epitome of modern male chic. His innovative color scheme of gray, white with a touch of purple is a contemporary approach to the default dark wedding suits. Aside from a great color palette, Geoff is donning a suit that is well tailored, slim fit and doing exactly what it is suppose to do! His suit flatters his body type while staying within the lines of comfort. Kudos to Geoff on being my first male voyeur!

I will admit it. I am a ~~huge~~ fan of Kim Kardashian. I find her to be extremely beautiful and her body type is actually a really good representation of what a healthy normal woman should look like. With that being said, I could only really admire her for her personal aesthetics and that's it. I am not surprised that her collaboration with BEBE named Kardashians BEBE is such a disappointment. It's a huge knock-off of what she already wears. Which brings me to the first piece...The dress on the left is from an awesome L.A. based designer Brian Lichtenburg, a designer whom Kim usually wears. This dress looks ridiculously to close to one of the dresses from the new BEBE line. What's the point of celebrity lines if all they are going to do is rip off the true talent of others?

I approached Channie after a group project we had at school and told her I loved her outfit. She seemed a little surprised by this. Her style is youthful vintage chic.
What first got my attention was her belt (it made her waist look so small! ). Her outfit is age appropriate and her floral print lets me know that Spring is approaching.
She claims her style is vintage-boho, and her mom is her fashion icon, because she's always looking beautiful and modern.

This has been such an inspirational week. I recently read an incredible article on women rights that has me over the moon! Humans are visual creatures-often judging a book on it's cover. I will own up to my own superficiality and tell you that there are two requirements before I even look twice at a guy. Shoes & teeth. Shoes and teeth can tell you a lot about a man. Their hygiene, their style, their credit score, etc...

But as superficial as I may sound-that can't compare with the
the forthcoming book, "Undateable: 311 Things Guys Do That Guarantee They Won't Be Dating or Having Sex" by Ellen Rakieten and Anne Coyle. "experts say that when it comes to calibrating long-term compatibility, the reality is that what men wear is the first — and often most crucial — criteria that women use to judge.
The book is bitter-sweet for me, because women are ~~often~~ held to societies standards to be thin, pleasing/model-like creatures while men can look however they damn please.
-Yet, at the same time I find it lame how they are approaching the situation. Making it seem that the reason these men aren't getting laid is because they wear "Tighty Whiteys" and NOT because they don't respect women.
How's that for a fashion advice?!

British fashion designer/iconoclast to the fashion world, Alexander McQueen, was found dead today in his London home. The buzz all over the web is that McQueen's death is an apparent suicide after the tragic event of his mother's death last week. "McQueen's representative, (however), would not confirm British media reports that he had (indeed) committed suicide."
McQueen will best be known for his "lobster shoes" that Lady Gaga wore in the "Bad Romance" video.
Rest in Peace McQueen.

~~Every once in a while~~ when I self indulge I usually resort to 3 things. Chili-cheese fries, whiskey and a new pair of fresh kicks. While the first two potentially cause MAJAH damage to my heart, buying new sneakers causes MAJAH happiness to my corazon.
Buying new sneakers is exhilarating and unlike stilleto heels, sneakers will never let my ass fall while i'm dancing. I could use them in any social situations.
I'm not the only one that feels this way. The subculture of "Sneaker-heads" is alive through out the world, in a every major city. Avid shoe collectors that take pride in their Adidas, Jordans and even Air Force ones.
I leave you with part 1/6 of the documentary "JUST FOR KICKS" which explains better the cultural impact of sneakers and their history. The movie has cameo appearances by self proclaimed "Sneaker heads" like Grandmaster Caz, Reverend Run, and Missy Elliott.

In a world of celebrity endorsed perfumes, lingerie and even salads, it should be no surprise that a celebrity endorsed cell phone should come out. Fashion titan, Versace has announced plans to come out with a high end phone. “The Versace number, due to be unveiled to VIP clients at the couture presentations next week in Paris will be the most expensive, at around £2,500.” That’s approximately $5000, way more than an iPhone will ever cost. At that price it better come with a share in the Versace company.

Listen-I'm all about high-end designers making our often mundane accerories interesting and high fashion(blah,blah, blah), but at this price i'll stick to my envy2. It makes calls just fine.

Milan Men's Fashion Week 2010: It's PRADA!

Let's be honest-It sucks being a boy. Nobody buys you flowers, you can't publicize your LOVE for bubble baths and fashion for you is quite boring when compared to women. But have no fear my boys, Men's fashion week kicked off this week, giving you plenty to look forward this Spring/Summer. And thanks to the wonders of YOUTUBE, one could enjoy the shows with out buying a ticket to Milan.

This season Prada has really caught my eye. Aside from their aggressive online marketing (i.e. posting up a film by Yang Fudong on their website and uploading their runway show on-line) their collection seems aesthetically what I would want to wear if I were a boy. 1970's leisure inspired ensembles, neutral colors combined with a splash of colors like merlot, blue and red, and geometric coat prints just to name a few.

The inspiration for this collections seems to be an modern urban mod squad look that travels through the city. The background of the show has images of Metro train maps and full scaled maps on the floor. Speaking of maps, I can't wait to see what's next on the adventure of men's fashion week!

Voyeur: Art Walker

Last night the comadre, Vanessa Berumen, and I hit up the monthly DTLA artwalk. Most people go for the art, music and/or free booze-all of which are legit reasons to go- I on the other hand, always like to go this event to admire the "Fashionistas". In the midst of a Sea of black leggings and coats, Vanessa's outfit was a breath of fresh air. The aspiring photographer playfully added a White faux-fur hat to match her white flats, and added a bit of color with her vintage blue belt. Brilliant! This made the outfit stylish, youthful and comfortable enough to let her do some "Fist pump" action and take her pictures. This is my first "Voyeur" post on real people and real fashions. My ode to you Vanessa and your amazing outfit. <3

Have you ever woken up one day and said to yourself "You know what? Today, I want to dress like a 75 year-old classy woman?!". Well my lady, today is your lucky day! I stumbled upon this "Chanel" inspired jacket @ Forever 21 (It seems Forever 21 is the new Canal street!). The jacket is about 1/87 of the original price. Which means that you CAN afford it. Just do me a favor, will ya, if you do wear it opt out for the pearls or the over the top accessories.

Do you ever pick up a fashion magazine and just admire the model (not the clothes!) for being so skinny? Well, V magazine's February issue will have some noticeably BIG changes in their models. The magazines' focus will be on showcasing larger models for it's upcoming size issue. This is rare gem in the Fashion industry, where waif thin models have been the norm.

The editors insist that the February issue of V isn't a shocking marketing gimmick or one big fat joke. “Big, little, pint size, plus size — everybody is beautiful,” said Stephen Gan, the magazine’s creative director, “and this issue is out to prove it."

While many criticize the choice of the magazine, I think it's time we as a society start to recognize that style can be obtain beyond size 2. The "Size Issue" will be on sale January 14, 2010.

It's 2010! A new year. A new decade. A new face???
Actually, the holiday partying schedule left me wishing for a new face-or at least wishing not to resemble Meeko. Luckily there are solutions to this dreaded eye baggage.
"Bliss Baggage Handler". It's a soothing gel that drastically deflated the bags under my eyes under $30.

Though I know the best solution for great skin is avoiding the bottle, plenty of water and rest(blah,blah, blah), the reality is that I might continue celebrating the new year now that I have a little cheat sheet. ;)

I finally had a chance to check out the Rodarte collaboration with Target. Let me just tell you how happy I am with this collaboration. The collection is my favorite Target/high end designer collaboration to date. Lingerie details (Lace and tulle), feminine silhouettes, fun colors (think baby blue or Mustard) combined with killer Target prices is always a plus in my book. Soooooooo after many years of waking up to shitty gifts underneath the Christmas tree like this or this I took the initiative to be proactive this year and buy my own gift.
I went to Uptown Whittier's Casita del Pueblo and bought the most exquisite necklace. (Look @ the picture)
This is a neat little boutique shop that caters to Latin-Folk art, with religious figurines, sugar skulls and the infamous Frida Kahlo inspired prints on wallets.
While everything look lovely I choose to give myself a one of kind necklace from local artist Lisa Rocha.
Casita del pueblo showcases many local artists and host several trunk show @ the store. They cater to one-of-kind jewelry, artwork and clothing articles.
So next time you're in Whittier stop by the store and Ch-ch-check it out!

The ladies of Sex and the city are back! The movie is set to be release May 2010. While i'm much more interested in the outfits they are going to wear, I can't wait to see what unfolds for Carrie and the Girls. Maybe Carrie will get fat?!?!?!?! I highly doubt it, but a girl could dream?

I will always remember her as "Tai" in Clueless", who told Cher she was a "Virgin who can't drive" (LOL!) and taught me how to "roll with the homies" .

As an avid concert goer, I try to tread the lines of style and comfort. But the last concert I went to, threw comfort out the window!
Every single lady in the place had on a pair of killer stilletos or mile high boots. Which made me question if that is even normal behavior.
I personally don't like the idea of worrying about my feet exploding during the middle of a sing-a-along with the band. The group "Don't wear F*cking High Heels to Concerts!!!" is dedicated to exactly that. They express their hatred towards the fashion of heels in impractical situations.

This year I want something more practical. I want:

A horse. (For traffic on the 405)
Handicap parking permit
A bigger closet

I often wonder what people who went to" Woodstock" think of all the Peace signs of today. Was their vision of the "peace symbol" for 2009 to be on a Juicy Couture bag? Or do they trip out because the symbol is not behind a tie-dye print? Ah, difficult questions. One CNN reporter Rudy Ruiz recently wrote an opinion article on the modern misusage of the peace symbol in fashion. "What happened to "Give peace a chance" rather than "Give peace a place in your wardrobe"writes Ruiz.

The 70’s broke many fashion rules, and boundaries. And while many of the trends are ones we would like to forget (Leisure suits) others have transcended through the years and are still prevalent today. The androgynous look is one of the. Today there are few style icons that can break that same boundary of gender with out looking like Ziggy Stardust.

Lou Doillon happens to be one of them. This 27-year-old English/French model channels the femme fatal power of the past and combines it with a boyish charm. While she has a HUGE advantage in the style department (her mom is the insanely gorgeous Jane Birkin) she manages to stray away from her big name mother and create a style original to her self. Gamine-sexy-Tailored.

The fact that they all produce amazing purses, sure to be on some girls Christmas lists this year. While the purse’s labels vary from person to person, one thing does not change- the purpose of the purse. Purses are great because they hold all our crap together. As for me, I try to not clutter my purse, but I have a few essentials I always carry in my purse.

-Keys to my car
-Cell phone

-Red Comb (This tames my bangs)
