Wake up! Wake up! It's the first of the month.

Today is the 1st of the month and while some are dreading today (rent is due!) today's 1st of the month is quite different. Today is May 1st, or as thousands of workers refer to as May Day/International Worker's Day. Today is an another opportunity for YOU to voice current labor issues that affect you daily. Today YOU can go into the streets of Los Angeles (or wherever you live) and march peacefully to voice your current frustrations not only towards change in labor unions but rights for migrant workers.
A sweater that would make Trotsky happy.
If just one day out of the year, we would leave our comfortable bubble of numbing capitalism and protest with our fellow comrades and peacefully "fight" and hold hands for something we ALL believe in, wouldn't this world be a better place?

What's worth fighting for you?

:NADA//DADA:

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas? Or at least you better fucking pray like to hope so-(I mean, who really wants to see you Karaoke to Gloria Estefan's song on the bar, pretending to be sexy, all while spectators view your drunken glory-as you notice that what's really hanging out of your skirt, is your tampon). But of course, there is so much more to the cheapness, and taste-less one expects from Las Vegas. There is dancing fountains, monuments to the gaudi and my favorite, outlets.

And yet amidst the sea of tight cargo pants, Ed Hardy shirts and all the glitter, I found Mai. Mai is a student from Japan who was shopping the infamous Las Vegas outlets. What struck me about her outfit was that it was so appropriate for the weather in Vegas. Her brown silk jumpsuit played perfectly with the dry breezy winds of the desert, while her choice in color palate was a perfect contrast to all the colors everyone in Las Vegas O.D.'s on.

When asked what her inspiration was, Mai responded to a simple "Nothing". Although I will admit I did not like that response at first, it later made sense to me. Her DADA approach in fashion can be seen as her outfit itself is anti-fashion/anti-ordinary, not only to Las Vegas fashion but to life in general, and for that I salute you Mai. Thanks for being my Las Vegas fashion muse.
*Arigato!*
*Do you like Mai's look?*

Boy Crazy

Dear RoseBow,
O.M.G. O.M.G. O.M.G. Rose bow Help! I got all my bases covered and got holiday gifts for my sister, parents and friends…but I somehow forgot my boy. WTF?! He always gets me the shittiest gifts for the Holidays but none-the-less I gotta hook up my boo’ with @ least some fly gear. Suggestions?

Sincerely,
LeKrystale
Paramount CA

Dear LeKrystale (Castles),

First off if you’re looking for some “fly gear” I suggest the latest edition of the FUBU collection. Buying for your “boo” may be a tad difficult-Sure its’easy to buy for your girlfriends or mom-You just get them something you would like-But boys are a bit more tactful and you obviously want them to look Holiday chic not Holiday geek.
Since each guy is different here are a couple of holiday suggestions for your boy:

The Pretty Boy Swag:

He likes to look fly all the time- Why not try a Leather fitted jacket that makes him look cool but @ the same time keep him warm from the weather.
He could pair it up with a simple tee or a nice button up shirt.

The Sneaker Head:
Unless you know exactly what shoe he is missing from his NIKE SB collection, its better to let him choose the shoes. So don't stress too much and get him a pair of fly-ass kicks from a special shoe boutique. My personal favorite, PROPER in Long Beach, CA. If the shoe isn't to his pleasing he can always exchange it  for something else.

The Professional:
His career is well on his way.  He dresses up almost everyday. Get him a nice bottle of Whiskey for after work and a pair of nice socks. You will make him warm from head to toe!

The Imaginary:
Call me Devendra.

The Asshole:
Send him a nonchalant e-mail saying that you have leprosy an unknown STD.He stood you up twice in one week-Get revenge from all that time wasted waiting for him, by having him wait unnecessary @ his local Plan Parenthood to get tested. (Hee Hee)

Hope this works for you LeKrystale and remember Tis’ the Season to get fucked up be jolly!

XOXO

The Legend of LA DORADA

Company Holiday parties are fast approaching, and obviously you want to show-off to your co-workers that you look like a decent human female when you actually put effort clean up pretty nice. Well, one way to make sure that you'll be a show stopper is to add some sparkle to your outfit. Take cues from Régine Chassagne (The Arcade Fires lead singer) on last weeks SNL performance. There's one point in her performance when she dances and all you can do is focus on the glittery reflections that she gives off...sort of like a human disco ball. And though that much gold looks great on ice skaters, South American folk legends and entertainers, here are a couple ideas to add some gold to your Holiday party outfit:

Lumiere Dress by J.Crew.

Pair this up with some cute nude color heels, and you will be the belle of the ball!

Add a small amount to your eye make up as a final touch and SHINE!

Little Black Dress plus these shoes-you'll for sure turn heads.

Below is the actual video from the SNL performance by The Arcade Fire. If you haven't already, please do yourself a favor and listen to the entire album "The Suburbs".

Is gold too Gaudy for you?

Tranquilita de noche y de día.

Even though the sun is beating us to the ground here in Southern Califas.(and no, I'm not complaining!) that doesn't mean one can't dress up with all the fun fashion has to offer in the Fall. Fall has always been my closet's favorite time of the year. It means dressing up with more layers of clothing and putting on all my favorite winter coats and boots...and even though in the past years I've shied away from tall heel boots this year I'm embracing the "inner Amazon woman" and rocking high heels like the baddest bitch on the block.

My favorite accessory this fall is the bold statement necklace, particularly this statement necklace by Tranquiltelas. This particular color really compliments well with the color palette Fall is known for: Khakis, Browns, Military green.

On a last note, if you're like me, you probably would like to run over the holiday music like that reindeer did to Grandma. This has to be at least once on your Fall/Holiday playlist. "Night by Night" by Chromeo.

What trends are your favorite during Fall?

Happy 4th of July!

Have a fun, festive and safe holiday. Today we celebrate "independence" and everything American!  Happy Birthday U.S.A.!

As much as I hate Bruce Springsteen, there's no better day than today to listen to this song!
Be safe guys :)

Red, White & Chic

So the world cup didn't turn out quite the way U.S.A. wanted it to be... But hey! We're the United States of America, and tomorrow we celebrate the birth of our nation! Woot-Woot! Which means, bbq parties, friends/family, and fireworks to celebrate the fact that we are that powerful to not care about the world cup.
Now your mind still might not be thinking what you will be wearing tomorrow, but here @ Rose Bow we have a couple of suggestions to make you look "Patriotic Chic" without looking like Tommy Hilfiger ad circa 1995.

Simple ideas to make yourself look a little more patriotic:
Baseball Cap:

What’s more American than allowing corporate conglomerates destroy 3rd word nation's economy Baseball? The baseball cap is an informal patriotic accessory and great for the weather :)

Plain White Tee:
Crisp, clean and white, the plain white Tee is an American fashion staple. Pair this tee with any jeans and you're as American as Apple pie.

Bald Eagle:

What's more American than an actual endangered Bald Eagle? This is the accessory du jour! Bring this baby to a 4th of July BBQ, and you will most deffo be the most American bad-ass in the nation. You will bleed America, if not from Patriotism but caused by the eagle's claws.

Check out this article from Fashionista.com to give you more suggestions on how you can add an extra U.S.A. flair to your 4th of July outfit.

What are you wearing for the 4th?

Ponte-Ponte-Ponte bomb!

Summer is here and I'm so excited. Finally I can let the sun kiss my skin and enjoy all the fashion summer has to offer. This is a quick little photo essay of things that I want this summer. Which include bikes, skull rings, Indian headbands, and a call for people to use more public transportation! I feel like bright colors are so passe this summer. Instead i'm trying to opt out for a more classic approach with color schemes. Putting color in small details of your outfit (like floral print docs or a glitter eye-liner) are some ideas to add some Summer flair to your outfit with out looking like a Pollock

The song I decided to put up is a cover of "Pump the Jam" by the always body groovin' Colombian band "Bomba Estereo".  I still haven't decided what this summer 's anthem is going to be but this is most deffo on this summer's playlist. Some of the pictures above are from random adventures i've taken in the past days and pictures I've picked from random websites.

What's on your mind this summer?
